Week 2 Assignment: Exploring Roles in the ECE Community: Local and State Levels

Exploring Roles in the ECE Community: Local and State Levels

In the field of ECE I been reminded to be involved with a professional organization. As I been doing my research on different organizations in ECE career. One of my organizations I found interesting was Georgia Association for the education of Young Children. The reasons I chose this organization because it helps with information on Early Childhood and helps teachers, students, professional stay on task with new information and research in the ECE field.

The second organization that I chose was a group called Georgia Family Connection, in the my community. This organization interests me because they work with family connection collaborative that serves as the local decision-making body, that brings the community partners together to develop implement and plans that address the challenges facing Georgia's children and families. This is important to me because I have watch so many families plan nights and children grow because of program they had put together for the children to learn.

The third organization is the Georgia Pre- k Lottery organization. I chose this organization because I work for a Pre k program has a paraprofessional and this program helps the Pre-k program. On there website it has a lot of information to help Head start, Pre- k teacher, and caregivers. With Head start and Pre- k it give you information on performance standards to teach with your children.

In conclusion, I have many jobs I that interests me is Early Childhood Instructor and Pre- K Director. These two jobs have interest me because I have been in Early childhood field for a long period of time working with children. I have to have a Master's degree to get one of these jobs and I want to make sure I guide the one that are going to school for early childhood to right way. I want a good supported staff where every I work at.

Chiquela,
I do learn new things from my colleagues whenever I read their posts. However, you have mentioned that you will like to have a good supporting staff anywhere you work. Well, this can only happen once there is excellent working requirements, since these are powerful motivation, and can have an effect on staff job contentment and their capability to execute their duties.Goelman et al., (2006) have postulated that when practitioners work collectively in a classroom, this presents occasions for supervision, consultation, and discussing work challenges.

Chiquela,
Those sound like great organizations. I am in Texas and am involved in the Texas Association for the Education of Young Children. I think it would be a great place to work and advocate for young children. I had also considered the idea of possibly becoming a licensing representative. I think too many of those who work for licensing don't have a clue about early childhood. I think programs would appreciate having their rep have knowledge in ece.
The Georgia Pre-K lottery intrigues me. I will be visiting the website this evening.
Thanks for your post!
Crystal

The lottery sounds interesting. Do the funds raised go directly to benefit the ECEC programs? What types of programs to they put together? Maybe you can give me the link. It sounds interesting and a worthwhile endeavor.
