Week 4 Practicing Awareness of Microaggressions

Practicing Awareness of Microaggressions I was having a conversation with some colleague about a month ago about the president and one of the statement was make "why did they let Obama run again and he's not going to help us. He have mess up things in the white house with the Healthcare plan. I response to her what do you mean about that she said he a black man not a white man. I stated they all do what they want to do in the white house. We cannot change anything and the only one that is god. The world was already mess up when he got in there. The offended me when she said that to me because i am black and we have a black president. I felt very sad about how that went down. Even though my observation experience did not happen this week. Discrimination, prejudice, and stereotypes of people happen all the time in school work, home, and public place. I think that we should just be quiet sometime and do not say mean thing to people.

Sometimes in our conversations with people those words are some time out of anger. After some years to come, apprecitation will be taken by all who made negative statements. We all often say things in places and never know how one will react and sometime those statements are made to see how all black or white would react.

Chiquela,
I think microaggressions of this kind happen to us almost every day. It is hard to stay calm and not respond to them, but they definitely affect you and hurt your feelings.
