Cultural Diversity

 I really do think that I am different from some individual of other culture because when I call customer service at Verizon for help with my phone. I get a person have a different cultural from mind. I do not understand what they be saying to me so I asks them can they put somebody on that I can understand and be nice and put somebody on. Ways I can communicate with any other group would be to try to speak their language if I could speak their language  talk for they can understand what I am saying to them. The three strategy I would use to help myself communicate effectively with people or group. One I would be respect to my to children parents at my work place to make sure we have good understanding of what going on with their children. I will make sure I put in term that they can understands. The second one is to  make sure that you be aware of any hand gestures and body language they use when dealing with different cultural. Last but not less, I would make sure I watch what I say around different cultural.

Week 2 Blog assinment 2: Nonverbal Communication Video

Nonverbal Communication

The assignment for this week I had to fine a video on a nonverbal communication. I watched a video on Guys Vs Girls on the way they communication with each other. It is a video that I have not seen before and I turn the video sound off and this what I saw. It started out like they were coming out of the movie laughing and touching each others. It look like the other couple on the right side was  laughing and having a good time. But it look like something make the girl mad because she had a frown on her face when they was going to the car. After they got in the car she was talking to him with a mad express on her face and he was listening to what she was saying. Then he started talking back to her with a frustration on his face.

When I turn the video  sound on I saw that they was a couple. She got mad at him because he did not pay attend to her when she asked if anybody want some freeze yogurt and he did not say nothing. So they was into it with each out about that. He had a difference language tone when he was talking to her later on in the video about do you want to go and get some freeze yogurt now and she said no. I think my assumptions would have been different because I did not know nothing about this video but on other movies I would have know about the video. I have learned a lot from communication this weeks about how body language and facial express is a form of communication. It have learned me to be care about my facial express that I do.

Week 1: Blog Communication

A good communication and a communicator would be my mother and cousin. Me, my mother, and cousin talk all the time about different situation that goes on in our life this day and time. I like the ways they listen to me when I am going through something. I like how we sit down and discussion difference problems we have. My cousin is just my counselor so I do not need to pay anybody. She said that she thinking about going back to school to get her counselor degree to be a counselor. I told her I will be her first patient. She do not tell me what to do she just give me advice on the situation. She always tells me positive information on how to handle situation. I would want to module some of my communication behavior by helping people that are in need of help and advice if they need my help. She is respectful just like I am so that why I model her.

Educ 6164 Week 8 Professional Hopes and Goals

Blog: Professional Hopes and Goals
Within the past eight weeks I have learned a lot form this course about diversity, culture, and language. My hope when working with children and families I would make sure that I understand their culture for they want be out of places. I will make sure I learn their culture before they come. I will make sure that get the help they need to understand my culture and their culture.

One of my goals is the make sure that we understand the issue of prejudice, social justice, and equity. I would like to learn more about the difference issue until I started this class. I wish that we would have more issue discussion in the society today than we do because I did not think of it like that.

I would like to think my classmate for their discussion in this class for helping me understand anti-bias. I really enjoyed reading the class post on some of the topics we discussion as a group. I see that we had all kinds of situation that we went through in our live that we had to deal with.

Welcoming Families From Around the World The country of my family’s origins is African. The five ways in which you will prepare yourself to be culturally responsive towards this family would be doing research on the family history. The second one is look information on how they live in the country. The third one is I would contact the early childhood place to see how their education is in their country. The four one is I would set things up in my classroom that would make them feel welcome just like African. And last, I would ask them what are some things they would like for me to have in the classroom and I would talk to someone in their country to see what kind of help the family need. The ways I hope that these preparations will benefit both you and the family by make sure they get what they need in the country. I would make sure they are treated right and make sure they understand each other. I would want them to be open hearted to me for we can understand each other.

Week 6 Blog: Personal Side of Prejudices, and Oppression

Personal Side of Prejudices, and Oppression I had a child in my classroom that did like black people. I was picking up on things she said to the black children in the classroom. One day we were in the bathroom she told a black child that she did not like her skin color because it was not like her. Some the child came over to me and said Mr. Patty she hurt my feeling I asked her what wrong with you sweet heart she said that the child over said that she did not like my skin color and it was not like mine. So I walk over to her and said sweet that is not nice to say to your classmate and she said it again. So I took her to the teacher that was working with me and she is white but she have a tan color like brown skin people and she put her skin to the child and said what color is my skin she said it dark the teacher said that you do not like me either she said I did not say you I say her. So we called her parents and told them what she said and her father said that she heard her mom said that about the children she work with at her school. I think that she was taught that because we had other issue in the classroom with her. We try some of everything to help her with these issues but it did not work so we had to deal with it until the end of school. I think that her mom might did say things like that around her because children hear a lot of thing at home when parents are talking. I did not judge her because she said though things I just tried to help her work on some of thing she say to children and adult. I hope she do not grow up with prejudice in her. I want her to get help on the ways she talks to black children. It made me feel that her mom do not like black people and that is very sad. The way she talks to us with her nose in the air and rolling her eyes at people. I say to the parent if you are talking about your job please make sure that your child is not around when you talk about the children in your classroom because your child come to school and tell us what you say about your child.
